Dr. M. BABAIAH, M.D. completed MBBS in 1975 from Kurnool Medical College and Internship in 1976 from the Government General Hospital, Kurnool. He later worked for one year as a resident in Departments of Surgery and Medicine at AIIMS, New Delhi in 1977. He went on to complete his M.D (Radiotherapy) in 1981 from AIIMS New Delhi.
Dr. Babaiah worked as a Registrar with AIIMS New Delhi from 1981-1983. From 1983 to 1988, he worked as a Consultant Oncologist at a 550 Bedded King Fahd Hospital, Saudi Arabia. He was the Head of Department of Oncology at Medwin Hospital from 1989-2004 (15 years). Later, he held the position of Director at Yashoda Cancer Institute from 2004 to 2012. He also worked as Professor of Oncology, Deccan Medical College since 1995.
From 2012 to 2021, he worked as a medical Director at American Oncology Institute, Hyderabad.
In Feb 2021, he joined Medicover Cancer Institute, Hyderabad as Medical Director and Chief Radiation Oncologist.
Dr. M Babaiah has made immense contribution towards cancer care in the twin state of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh during his clinical practice covering more than three decades. His vision and pursuance of excellence has changed the face of practice of Radiation Oncology in twin states. He was the first Radiation Oncologist in twin states to bring computerized treatment planning system in mid 80s for accurate delivery of radiation to the tumors. Dr. Babaiah was the first Radiation Oncologist in South India, who started innovative and revolutionary cancer treatment technologies like IMRT, IGRT, SRT and SRS and made them available for the cancer patients in twin states. His never ending desire for superior technology made it possible to procure first RAPID ARC treatment technology at Hyderabad in a corporate setup for the first time in India.
